After being told that the financial impact of coronavirus would halt the big-money transfers this summer, it has been somewhat surprising to see that several high profile players have arrived in the Premier League. So with that in mind, what players might make last minute moves, before the window closes on October 5th?
Rhian Brewster
Perhaps not as big a name as some out there, but this promising, young striker could be on his way out of Anfield this summer. And it’s no wonder that he’s reportedly wanted by clubs that include Sheffield United and Crystal Palace, after he scored ten goals in twenty appearances on loan at Championship side Swansea last season. He may just go out on loan, but with eight appearances for the England U-21 side, he would still prove a shrewd acquisition for the team that does benefit from his services. With the firepower that Liverpool currently hold, it would be difficult to see where he currently fits into Jurgen Klopp’s plans, so expect him to make an impact at a new club this season.
Josh King
So often, we see relegated teams, for a variety of reasons, sell their better players after relegation, and Bournemouth have proved no exception. Callum Wilson has joined Newcastle, and Nathan Ake hauled in a huge transfer fee to seal his deal to Manchester City, so could Wilson’s former strike partner also be on his way out? With only one recognised striker at the club, Tottenham have reportedly been keen, as have Manchester United. So with forty-eight goals since joining the Cherries back in 2015, he may follow some of his other teammates, with a move back to the Premier League.
Dele Alli
This is a story which has only come about recently, but with Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho omitting Dele Alli from matchday squads in recent games, could the attacking midfielder make a shock move away from Spurs? Since joining in 2015, the twenty-four year-old has scored fifty times, and has become a staple in midfield. However, in the last couple of years, his form has been erratic, and thus, his place in the side has become far from guaranteed. So with his manager not keen on giving him minutes, and Paris St. Germain reportedly circling, this could be one of the surprises of the summer.
Jadon Sancho
The story which has dominated all summer is Manchester United’s interest in the young forward, who has become a phenomenon at Borussia Dortmund. At just twenty years of age, he has already scored thirty times for the German giants, and in recent times, has become a regular starter for Gareth Southgate’s England international team. At present, Dortmund are holding firm in their £110m valuation of the player, so Manchester United would have to really splash the cash in order to lure him to Old Trafford. But with their recent dealings, such as stumping up £80m to sign Harry Maguire in 2019, they’ve shown that they are willing to go big to land their man. So although United are insisting that they will not be agreeing to Dortmund’s proposed fee, don’t be surprised if something dramatic were to happen before the window shuts.
